About Us

The West Yorkshire Creation Group was formed in 2006 out of the previous Bradford Creation Science Group.

Our Beliefs

1. Creationists. We are orthodox evangelical Christians. Like most pre-19th century Christians we not only believe that the Bible is true, but also believe that Genesis provides the only authentic history of how the universe and life came into existence: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Gen.1:1).
    

2. Meaning and Purpose. Since God made us for His own pleasure (Rev.4:11), it follows that human beings have the significance, which He gives them. He makes the rules – the moral laws, which should regulate our behaviour.
    

3. Opposed to evolutionism. We are opposed to Darwinism and its meaninglessness. We do not believe that life evolved accidentally, without purpose. Nor like many Christians do we believe that God used evolutionary mechanisms to create the world.
    

4. Six-day creation. We do not believe that the universe is billions of years old, Genesis 1 teaches us that God created the universe in six 24-hour days a few thousand years ago.
    

5. The Genesis Flood. We believe in the historicity of the Flood account of Genesis 6-9. It is our
   conviction that modern geological theory with its vast ages is wrong. Geologists are coming round to catastrophism. The Genesis Flood was that catastrophe!

Our Attitude to Science

1. We entertain the highest respect for scientists and their work though we remember that they are fallible.
    

2. We distinguish between what scientists actually know and what they speculate on origins. They can observe the present, but – like everyone else – can only entertain beliefs about the past.
    

3. Many competent scientists – though admittedly not a majority in the present day – are convinced that the Biblical account of creation is true and compatible with science. Great scientists in history – Galileo, Kepler, Newton, Ray, Boyle, Faraday, Joule, Kelvin, &c – were convinced creationists.
    

4. We reject neo-Darwinian beliefs because [a] There is no evidence that genetic mutation leads to the increase in genetic information necessary for evolution; [b] The fossil record lacks the transitional forms which evolution-theory demands. [c] The so-called homologies of structure have different embryological bases. Similarities are not evolutionary. For further scientific evidence see Dr Cowell’s lectures. [d] It is absurd to attribute design to human inventions, such as computers, yet deny it to almost infinitely more complicated organisms, such as the human body. It is even more absurd for designers to copy ‘designs’ in nature (e.g. Sikorsky’s imitation of the dragonfly) yet allege that those ‘designs’ were not designed! We are convinced that Paley is more soundly based than he ever was.

Our Aims

·         First to provide some education in this area. See ‘Events’.

·         Second, we particularly want Christians to realise that they need no longer believe evolutionary propaganda. They can believe their Bibles in toto. The Gospel of Jesus Christ rests on solid Biblical – and scientific – fact.

·         Moreover it is vital that they are encouraged to educate their children through DVD’s, magazines, creation websites, etc. Otherwise through ignorance they will believe evolution and reject Christianity.

·         We are happy to interact with evolutionists, Christian and non-Christian – though not in interminable correspondences!   

Membership

Anyone is welcome to come to our meetings, but only evangelical Christians, who share our beliefs and aims, are invited to become members.
